Lazy Blog Day

posted in Blogging Rants |

Sometimes I will give myself the liberty of substituting some links for a good post.

Here goes:

  • I love the kinds of debates and questions like this one appearing on Work It Mom! because people are asking me it EVERY G-DDAMN DAY! I personally now have changed my mind and actually think it’s easier to stay home. Hah! Did you actually think I was going to opine on it?
  • On my pitty little review blog, I’m giving away a $25 Kroger gift card. I don’t have a Kroger near me, but if you do, go comment and be nice to my barely-visited other half quarter and maybe you’ll get a discount on a Starbucks drink or something.
  • I was dying laughing after reading this story.  Alex is really upping her ante in the blogosphere by being continually honest and hilarious. I tried to make her feel better that I was totally the one who “tooted” (oops!) in yoga today.  But I can’t bring myself to write a whole post about it.
  • Anyone catch this story about Twitter in the NY Times today? Finally! Someone else out there pointing out the flaws of Twitter. I know some of y’all love your Twitter, but I don’t see the point. I especially love how they call out PR folks for using it to create an “identity.” Uhm, how do you think I found out about it in the first place? I said it here first: I’ll never do the Twitter thing. No one needs to know that I accidentally left a bag full of groceries at Trader Joe’s yesterday that I had to go retrieve.
  • My gals at the Chicago Moms Blog are looking for some new Chicago-area writers to fill their ranks. I can’t say enough good things about the site. I mean, I wouldn’t have met these new friends (and their cute kids) without it. Good luck!
  • If you haven’t checked out the site Momocrats yet, you should. They’ve got some amazing writers and bloggers over there, and they present the issues that matter to us moms in a great light.

Yeah, I’m doing the Twitter thing now, but maybe once a week. It’s too much for too little, I think. It would have been great in high school maybe, but now it’s too much like passing notes as a grownup and I feel foolish. But I’m used to that.

    Hope all is well.

I just started twittering and so far I love it. For me it is the microblogging part I like. Since my posting are far in between lately, it is kind of nice that I actually have the twitter on my sidebar to let my readers know what I am up to.

But then again, I can be such a techno geek. I’ll try everything that is new. So far twitter and stumbleupon has been fun.

I am so jazzed that I posted about Twitter a full two weeks before the New York Times. Ok, so their article may have been a tad more fleshed out and well-researched than mine, but I can still say I had the story first!

Reading the NYT story by the mom of three girls had me flashing forward 10 years when my girls will be teenagers. Guess that’s what I’ll have to look forward to, except by then I’m hoping that instead of texting, there will be some sort of device that attaches to your head so you can telekinetically transmit your messages instead of typing them.
