Take note: Notes from the Underbelly is on tonight

I got pitched to review this new ABC show, Notes from the Underbelly, a couple weeks ago, but I passed. I had too much going on at work, and had too little time to invest in another TV show. But now that it’s airing tonight, I kind of wish I had put in the time up front so I knew whether or not to stay up past my bedtime to watch it later (unlike LOST, which I will stay up bone-tired to watch; love or hate Juliette?). I have such issues.
The show, as my husband pointed out while we were watching a commercial for it, is targeted directly to “us.” You know, middle-to-upper-middle-class working stiffs who may or may not have a kid, be pregnant and are generally ambivalent about all things kid-related (that is, before we actually had kids). It’s the kind of show that I feel like I should be watching, but not sure if I want to watch. You know, it has all that “should I work or stay at home” stuff thrown in it in a supposedly “funny” way. (I usually like to escape from reality when I watch TV.) Overall, it seems like a pretty generic premise *yawn* but one preview line about the soon-to-be-father being a “boob guy” definitely had us laughing. For a second.
However, because this is all I really know about the show (except that it stars that really-cute-but-I-don’t-know-her-name-actress from “Kissing Jessica Stein“) , I’ll just have to rely on some other people’s reviews to help me make up my mind. Here’s a sampling… hope this helps you decide if it’s worth staying up late to watch. I’m still on the fence. Enjoy, or not.
