Read it yourself: Hipster edition
posted in Don't Know What to Make of This, Chicago Stuff, Mom Rants |I’m admittedly a little behind and a lot silent on the most recent hipster parent debate. That being said, the discussion is fascinating. Anyway, because I’m not all that edgy or feeling quite smart enough to truly voice my opinion about the topic, I thought instead I’d provide you hipster parent readers some things I’ve found through my weekly web browsing. Enjoy. And if your DH allows your kid to wear skull and crossbones gear, go for it. I’m banned from that here. And you thought I was cool.
- Rock your baby to sleep. And I mean it about the rock part. Have you all seen
this? Baby Rock Records “transforms timeless rock songs into beautiful instrumental lullabies, sending your little one to a slumberland of sweet dreams.” I was laughing out loud thinking about my son listening to Pink Floyd’s “Mother” before going to bed, but then again, it’s a much better option than listening to my singing. - No sleep in Brooklyn. Or Manhattan. I wonder if this is what I have to look forward to in a few years - parents who can’t get their toddlers to sleep alone. At least now you can hire sleep consultants to help get the little ones out of your bed so you can have fun with your significant other (a.k.a. get some sleep.)
- It makes me feel like dancin’. Baby Loves Disco is coming to Chicago this Sunday at the Park West theater. I don’t think we’ll be hearing Pink Floyd here.
- Wannabe celebrity hipster sort-of-working mom insightful quote of the week:
“[Having a baby] is a big life-changing experience, and we’re excited.
- Keri Russell
- Just found out: I was “Blogtipped” by Elizabeth (otherwise known as the uber-blogger BusyMom) of Career and Kids. Her site is a wealth of knowledge and opinions on working parenthood, so definitely go peruse. I feel so hip now!
Have a hip weekend, everyone.
