Random observations from Newark Liberty International Airport

posted in Don't Know What to Make of This, Business Travel, Working Moms |

I’m stuck at Newark trying to get back to O’Hare after a business meeting today. There are no “computer stations” so I’m left to sit on the floor next to a nice man from Seattle to blog. My back hurts and I’m tired. Thank god I’m not pregnant. Here is a visual of Newark Liberty Airport at the moment (don’t they know that the Statue of Liberty belongs to New York!?):

- The light in the terminal is dimmed. And now they are playing “Together Forever” by Rick Astely.  No, I’m not kidding.

- The same woman has passed me about 5 times walking her what appears to be 3 year old son.  I think he’s getting sick of waving to me.

- A man asked if he could get a cocktail from the bar of TGIFridays and drink it in the terminal.  Good luck with that.

- There are too many white men.

- I’m ready to go home to my son.  And husband.

While it’s a bummer to have to travel for work (I’ve been logging a business trip every month since I’ve been back from maternity leave), when I go to the East Coast, I schedule my trip so I’m there and back in one day. It’s not fun to get up at 4:30 a.m. (it reminds me of the newborn days), but there are benefits to a business day trip: […]

[…] Trust me, given the choice, I’d rather surf the ’net all day talking to you than travel to New Jersey again this week, but unfortunately for me, blogging doesn’t pay my mortgage (well, neither does my […]
